The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR 2012) make it clear: if you’re planning any refurbishment, demolition, or even intrusive maintenance work on a non-domestic property built before the year 2000, you must commission a Refurbishment and Demolition Survey. This also applies to domestic properties where contractors are involved. This type of asbestos survey goes far beyond a standard management survey. Its main aim is to locate all asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) before they get disturbed, preventing dangerous exposure.
